Rhubarb, Goat Milk, Onion, Lavender Air - Alinea

French girl living in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

I moved to the US a couple of years ago and work in events planning in the non-profit sector. With time on my side – for once – I decided to indulge in one of my most demanding obsessions, food. In every aspect.  I have to say that being laid off (hence the free time) and quitting smoking (YAY!) altogether didn’t help in curbing my obsession.

My fondest memories all include food in some ways: my mother’s boeuf carottes every Saturday after school; shopping with my father on Saturday to get his cote de porc (pork chops) and favorite eclair au chocolat; my hometown’s Saint-Nectaire you can ONLY find in Auvergne; first time I went to a three-Michelin-Star Restaurant (Ledoyen);  2nd time I went to a three-Michelin-Star Michelin restaurant (Lucas Carton); the delicious restaurant-which-shall-not-be-named we went to for my secret wedding; merveilleux Cordeillan-Bages & Thierry Marx; first time I cooked diner for my family at Christmas et j’en passe.

Oh – and how could I forget Grant Achatz’s Alinea ?

do you have any Basque food in NYC? go for it: nothing extraordinary but the kind of experience you can have with your Saint-Nectaire. Talking about Lucas Carton, I went there once years ago and still can feel the taste of crème brûlée on my tongue

  4. did you hear that you will be able to buy Roquefort for nothing soon in the US? The end of a 30 years trade conflict between France and the US. Barack is really a star
